Nevada CCW

Higher Purpose Training offers both initial and renewal Nevada Concealed Carry Permit (CCW) training. This course satisfies the Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs Association CCW Training Requirements.

This state-mandated course is not a skill building course. The majority of this training is presented via classroom lecture. Although we do our best to provide a high-quality course covering some gun handling and marksmanship, the only live fire in these courses is the shooting qualification.

If you have little or no firearms training, you are welcome to attend. This course will give you a foundation in defensive handgun basics, how to consider gear choices, defensive mindset and firearms law. Our CCW course is designed to give you an overview of how carrying a handgun everyday will affect your life. This 1-day course is the first part of our Defensive Handgun Skills Program.

Course topics include:

  • Basic firearm knowledge and the safe handling of firearms

  • Proficiency in firing a handgun and range safety

  • Choosing a handgun and holster for concealed carry

  • Essential defensive handgun skills

  • Developing a self-defense plan

  • Ammunition knowledge and the safe handling of ammunition

  • Cleaning and the care of firearms

  • Storage and child proofing firearms

  • Handgun shooting techniques and positions

  • Laws pertaining to the use of firearms in the State of Nevada and Federal Firearms Laws

  • Use of deadly force, the force continuum, civil and criminal liability

  • Avoiding criminal attack and controlling a violent confrontation
