Church Safety Ministry Training

Higher Purpose Training is proud to present Church Safety Ministry Training. Angelo’s diverse background as a pastor, first responder, security professional and firearms instructor has given him a unique perspective on what “church security” should look like. His training background, professional journey and ministry all intersect in Church Safety and Security Ministry.

Much of what the tactical training industry markets as “church security” training focuses on active violence. They take their defensive firearms courses, tactics courses and active shooter courses and slap the label “church security” on it.

Our approach to church safety and security is much different. Church Safety and Security is a ministry first. It is not event or venue security. The mission of the church is different, therefore, the mission of the Church Safety and Security Ministry is unique. Churches must foster a welcoming culture of openness, warmth, and service. Its mission encompasses much more than active violence preparedness.

Are you a member of a church or a church leader that is concerned about safety and security? Many church leaders and pastors are apprehensive about starting church security teams for different reasons. This is especially so when most of the church security training offered focuses on firearms and tactical training. There are many other steps a church must take to keep its congregation safe. Churches should plan for many other risk management issues including facility vandalism, medical emergencies, protecting children’s ministries and protecting members from abuse of power in leadership. Why start the conversation with firearms and active shooter response?

We believe active violence is a concern and emergency response training to address that threat should be a priority. In fact, we offer high quality firearms training to equip church security team members with high levels of skill that exceeds that of law enforcement and military standards. However, we understand that the conversation around firearms in churches can cause division among church leaders and the congregation. We also offer other options for active violence emergency response that do not involve members of your church being armed. One of those options is the AVERT Program. Addressing active violence is a contentious topic. Options should be considered after addressing the many other safety needs and much prayer.

Our Church Safety and Security training includes:

  • Fundamentals of Church Safety Ministry

  • Rolls of the Church Safety Team Member

  • Risk Analysis

  • Physical Security

  • Medical Emergencies

  • De-Escalation

  • And much more!

We offer training in several formats to help empower your church to more effectively do ministry by integrating safety into all it does so it can serve its community.

Church Safety Ministry Seminar

This training is a one-day lecture seminar that can be hosted by your church. It is designed to help your church leaders and members understand the purpose of a church safety ministry and how to integrate church safety into the operation of the church as a ministry. At the conclusion of this seminar, your church leadership will have a general overview of church safety needs and what steps it needs to take to begin making ministry safer.

Church Safety Ministry Conference

This is a 3-day weekend conference your church can host. It is a combination of seminars, sermons and hands-on training. At the end of the weekend, church safety leaders will leave empowered to start assessing their church safety needs and what steps they will need to take to begin making ministry safer.
